Different state every few months, how do you do at home school their children legally? We are residents of California?

My new job requires me to take my family every few months. It is likely that more than likely in a different state about 6 times a year. How would someone register children in an education program at home. My wife is a housewife and she will be with them all the time. Our children are 6 and 5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
