Ap Calculus Tutor In San Diego
Would a high gpa and average SAT scores kill my chances?
I have a weighted 3.96 gpa (UC gpa is about 4.11, but they recalculate the gpa because they know that out school’s academics are much harder than other schools) and 1800s for SAT I and plan to retake my ACT in December (hoping to score at least 26+)
I am female asian and hope to major in chemical engineering. I take the MOST rigorous schedule (graduating with 8 APs out of the 12 offered). I am now taking Calculus BC, AP chemistry, AP biology, AP physics, and regular English IV.
I play varsity sports (for all 4 high school years), both tennis and basketball. Was business manager on the school newspaper last year, second flute in concert band (for 3 years), participated in community service (different programs like tutoring and also chemistry teacher assistant)
Interested in: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, Stanford, Caltech and MIT(just trying, not really confident), Columbia (Fu school)
Please give me some advice…
All of these schools have very high standards, but I think you do have a chance to get in. Although your SAT scores are not amazing, they are decent and just show that you are not a standardized test person. The SAT and ACT are not a good measure of intelligence at all and I think these schools will recognize talent when they see it. All of your extracurricular activities definitely help your chance to be accepted and make up for the SAT/ACT. Best of luck!
